The South-South chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded a public apology within one week from social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan. This demand stems from a recent video in which VeryDarkMan allegedly disparaged the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The APC's South-South Zonal Organizing Secretary, Blessing Agbomhere, issued a statement from Abuja addressing the controversy. The party urged VeryDarkMan to differentiate between legitimate activism and what they consider slander. They also cautioned him against future attacks on the former governor of Akwa Ibom State.

Agbomhere's statement was a direct response to VeryDarkMan's critical remarks aimed at Akpabio for heading a five-person federal government delegation to the funeral of Pope Francis at the Vatican the previous Saturday.

The APC chieftain strongly objected to VeryDarkMan's criticisms, asserting that the influencer was resorting to name-calling under the guise of activism. He called on Nigerians to disregard VeryDarkMan's "uninformed ranting."

Agbomhere further stated that the current administration is actively working to address the widespread insecurity inherited from past administrations. He mentioned that President Tinubu, upon his return from France and the UK, convened a meeting with security chiefs and issued directives for a revised approach to combating insecurity. The APC believes that resolving the nation's complex security challenges requires time and ongoing commitment, a commitment the Tinubu administration made upon assuming office and continues to pursue.
